Simon Larbalestier is a London-based photographer perhaps best known for his work with Vaughan Oliver for the Pixies, among other 4AD bands. He approached me in 1999 to design a logo for use across his promotional materials, but that would also be suitable for use as a rubber stamp for his original prints.

Simon's name was set in Granjon and juxtaposed with a simple, recognisable mark that plays with conceptual ideas of what the photographer's work is - to look at new ways of framing subjects, to question, to bring out the essence of a photograph - and applied a stylised television-screened shape to the edges of the mark to suggest the photographer's shift from print to screen, softening the shape at the same time to help harmonise the mark with the typography.
