I left Roundarch in the summer of 2003 to go to Ofoto, across the bay in Emeryville. I had been sceptical about the idea of printing from digital cameras until I tried their service about a year earlier. The product is fantastic and the customer service is second to none.

So, still wearing a sling from my shoulder operation, I signed up to lead the visual design efforts of the advanced development group, and within a few short weeks we had Kodak Mobile up and running, fully integrated with existing Ofoto infrastructure. We continued to develop innovative products and services to enable sharing and printing from camera phones. As time allowed, I chipped in on core services design, including Mac and PC desktop clients and flash interfaces for new services.

I think my proudest moment at Kodak came after I left. Watching some of the new TV commercials that Ogilvy NY was working on, I noticed that the typeface that I had specified in my prototypes (see the Storyshare grabs) in an attempt to subversively modernise the brand, had found its way to the agency. Now every ad that Ogilvy produces features Apex Sans, from Thirstype Chester.
